ACUPUNCTURE

LiveWell Niagara now offers Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an ancient modality rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been used for over 2,000 years. The acupuncturist uses thin needles inserted into the skin and tissue at certain ‘acupoints’ to illicit the movement of the body’s energy, also known as ‘qi’.

Acupuncture relies on the use of fine round-tip needles to streamline the flow of energy in the body. Acupuncture needles are safe and sterilized, only being used once on each patient. Generally, it can carry fewer side-effects than pharmaceutical drugs and leave your feeling relaxed and grounded.

Our body has energy channels called meridians, which work similar to rivers and supply energy to the organs, muscles and tissues that flush out the metabolic waste materials from inside the body. Disruptions in these energy channels lead to blockages in the flow and may cause health ailments.

At LiveWell Niagara, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, our acupuncture specialist corrects the flow of energy by inserting these needles at various acupuncture points spread across the body.

Why Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is used to balance the body’s overall system by using tongue and pulse diagnosis to get a better picture of what is going on inside the body. Once a pattern is confirmed, your registered Acupuncturist may choose to also use other modalities such as moxa (burning of mugwort), guasha, cupping, acupressure,  Tuina massage, blood release and nutritional counselling. All of these modalities can bring the body back to homeostasis for an overall sense of wellbeing.

Acupuncture uses the body’s natural healing capabilities to treat disease in the body. It can help treat a number of health ailments and can also be combined with prescription drugs to expedite healing from infection, surgery or injury.

Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the whole person through mind, body, and spirit and seeks to rebalance any disrupted qi.

Our Registered Acupuncturist Tammy will carefully diagnose your condition and develop a treatment plan to help you achieve your health goals.

Acupuncture may be used solely as it’s own treatment or in combination with chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage and naturopathy treatments.
