What is Cosmelan?

Cosmelan is a type of chemical peel that is used to lighten the skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots caused by various factors, such as sun exposure, acne, aging, or hormonal changes.
The powerful ingredients in Cosmelan treat and help prevent different types of discoloration and pigmentation. The peel decreases natural melanin production by inhibiting an enzyme called Tyrosinase responsible for melanin production.
Cosmelan is typically used for new, superficial, and mild to moderate skin pigmentation issues.

How Cosmelan Works?

Stimulates epidermal renewal and intensively combats the build up of melanin.
It reduces the amount of melanin formed, reducing the intensity of the dark spot.
It stops the melanosome from transferring to the skin cells, preventing the pigment from reaching the top layers.
Cosmelan decreases natural melanin production by inhibiting an enzyme called Tyrosinase responsible for melanin production.

Treatment Plan

Cosmelan consists of two steps:

Step one is a professional mask application at LiveWell Niagara. The mask contains a high concentration of active ingredients that penetrate the skin and start the depigmentation process. The mask is applied professionally at LiveWell Niagara, and then left on the skin for the duration of the day at home.
Home maintenance is the second step. A series of products are applied multiple times per day for several months, to enhance and maintain the results of the mask. While results are seen almost instantly after step one, it is important to complete your home care for the entire recommended duration period for long-lasting results and to prevent reoccurrence of pigmentation.

What is Dermamelan?

Dermamelan is a type of chemical peel that is used to treat skin hyperpigmentation such as melasma, sunspots, and hormonal pigmentation. It works by reducing the production of melanin, the pigment that gives colour to the skin, and removes the excess pigment from the surface of the skin.
Dermamelan is 20-30% stronger than Cosmelan, and is used for deep, stubborn, and moderate to severe skin pigmentation issues.
Dermamelan is also effective as an anti-aging treatment, and it helps to increase skin brightness and evens skin tone.
